In 2020, our 5th-grade son was reading below a 1st-grade level despite specialized reading intervention in Douglas County School District since kindergarten. We were devastated and had him tested for Dyslexia, where we learned this disorder severely impacted him. Over the next two years, we utilized numerous expensive tutors, tried countless reading methods, and even had him attend a private school for a semester. Nothing worked. Then we found All Things Reading.
Ben is now an 8th grader and has been given the gift of explicit and structured literacy education by an amazing reading specialist, Selena Roth. For the first time in 13 years, our son wanted to read his birthday card out loud in front of people! He is excited to learn, works incredibly hard, and is encouraged by Selena’s teaching style and how well-trained she is in working with adolescents. Without her explicit, evidence-based reading instruction, our son’s future would be bleak.
